Quick overview of the Re-creational trainer system

PILLARS

The Recreational System: A Holistic Approach to Training for Life

I believe fitness should be more than just lifting weights or chasing short-term goals.

It should be a system—a sustainable lifestyle that helps people move better, feel better, and live more fully.

The Recreational System is designed for those who want to integrate training into their lives, not as a burden, but as a tool for longevity, performance, and enjoyment. It stands on four main pillars that create balance between discipline and play, intensity and recovery, structure and freedom.

Pillar 1: Screening & Correction

Before we talk about performance, we need to talk about movement quality. The first pillar of the Recreational System is built on screening and correcting dysfunctional patterns. Using systems such as the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and other mobility/stability assessments, we identify asymmetries, restrictions, or compensations that might lead to injury or poor performance.

Once we screen, we correct. This involves mobility drills, activation work, and tailored corrective exercises designed to help you move with greater efficiency, reduce pain, and lay the foundation for sustainable progress.

Key Tools:

• FMS & corrective exercise

• Mobility & stability training

• Movement pattern education

Pillar 2: General Physical Preparation (GPP)

The second pillar is about building physical capacity through time-tested tools. We focus on General Physical Preparation (GPP), which means developing overall fitness, strength, and work capacity across various modalities.

The Recreational System uses a blend of:

• Bodyweight exercises for control and joint health

• Kettlebell training for strength, power, and endurance

• TRX & Rip Trainer for core control, stability, and functional movement integration

• Barbell training for fundamental strength development

The focus is always on mastering the basics and developing the ability to move safely and efficiently.

Key Tools:

• SFG Bodyweight

• SFG Kettlebells

• SFG Barbells

• TRX Suspension & Rip Trainer

Pillar 3: Recovery Strategies

The third pillar of the Recreational System is recovery, treated as seriously as strength work. Recovery allows adaptation, healing, and growth.

Our system integrates simple but powerful recovery techniques, including:

• Meditation to manage stress and sharpen focus

• Breathing techniques to enhance nervous system regulation and oxygenation

• Cold exposure (e.g., ice baths, cold showers) to stimulate resilience and recovery

• Soft tissue work (foam rolling, self-massage) to improve circulation and tissue quality

• Intermittent fasting as a lifestyle strategy to support metabolic health and longevity

Recovery isn’t just passive—it’s a proactive part of the Recreational System that accelerates progress and supports your wellbeing outside the gym.

Key Tools:

• Mindfulness & meditation

• Breath work

• Cold exposure

• Tissue care (foam rolling, mobility)

• Nutrition & intermittent fasting protocols

Pillar 4: Recreational Activities

The final pillar is what makes this system personal and enjoyable: recreation itself. I encourage all clients to find hobbies and activities they love—whether it’s martial arts, cycling, hiking, playing with kids, surfing, or gardening.

Your gym work should enhance these activities, not replace them. The Recreational System trains you to be ready for life’s adventures, to have the energy and strength to engage fully in your passions.

This pillar reminds us that training is not the end goal. It’s a means to enjoying life more deeply, moving with freedom, and experiencing your hobbies with less risk of injury and more fun.

Key Tools:

• Personalized lifestyle coaching

• Goal-setting for personal hobbies

• Training designed to complement your chosen activities

Why the Recreational System Works

Because it is balanced.

It creates a strong base (movement screening), builds capacity (GPP), respects recovery (restoration work), and honors real life (hobbies). It’s a system designed not just for athletes but for recreational humans—people who value their health and performance but also value family, careers, and passions outside the gym.

At Re-creational Trainer, we don’t just train bodies. We help people create a system they can follow for a lifetime.
